This is a series called “Best of the Decade.” It’s a list including 10 movies that I found to be the best in a specific genre from 2010-2019.
The 2000-2009 decade built the foundation, but the past 10 years is where the super hero/comic book genre established itself as a juggernaut in Hollywood. Today, in part because of these 10 films, the comic book/super hero genre is at a whole other level.
The release of a new “Lion King” adaptation has marked about 10 years into Disney’s adventure in remaking many of its animated pictures into live action versions. OK, technically, the new “Lion King” is a fully animated picture, but it’s more or less a de facto live action movie.
With nearly a decade to look back on, plus some others from years past, here is my ranking of the Disney live action and/or life-like remakes of animated classics.

In continuing my look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I wanted to throw together a ranking of the powers shown by the heroes, from my own perspective. Like my other lists, this one is just for fun, so it’s not serious and it isn’t a ranking of who’s stronger. Just my own thoughts on what I like better.
In honor of the final “Avengers” of this era, I’m taking a fun look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this piece, I’m looking at the weapons used by Marvel characters since the series’ start in 2008.
I’m counting down the days to “Avengers Endgame” and in the lead-up, ranking a few things about the series. So, here’s a look at my thoughts on the various uniforms worn by both the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and a couple others.
Director M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass” releases to theaters this week, marking the conclusion of the trilogy which began with “Unbreakable” in 2000 and continued with 2016’s “Split.”
With another trilogy set to be wrapped up soon, I figured it was a good time to take a look at some of my favorite three-movie franchises. Small disclaimer, film is subjective and art can be difficult to quantify in numbers and data. With that in mind, this top 10 is more a way to organize these trilogies and less a matter of fact.
The new year is here and with 2018 wrapped up, it’s time to take a look back at the best filmmakers had to offer the last 12 months.
Before getting into my top 10, though, here are some honorable mentions that didn’t make the cut.
Like all years, Hollywood gives audiences movies that are good, OK and just downright bad. Here’s my take on the latter for the past year.
First up, here are few that didn’t make the cut:
It’s the weekend of Han Solo! Tomorrow (or tonight if you’re seeing the early screenings), “Solo: A Star Wars Story” will hit theaters with Alden Ehrenreich portraying a younger version of the iconic character.
As interesting as that film should be, though, this also seems like a good opportunity to take a look back on some of the best scenes with Solo, as portrayed by Harrison Ford.

The first 2017 film I saw was “Resident Evil: Final Chapter” and it turned out to be the worst of the year, so it was all uphill from there. Looking back, it ended up being a solid year at the cinema and now that I’ve seen all the relevant movies, it’s time for my top 10 of 2017.
