According to Deadline, Antonio Banderas has been added to the cast of the film, along with Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali. The trio join a cast that already included Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

Monday Movie Report: Cannes Film Fest to broaden VR program

The Marche du Film, the Cannes Film Festival’s business element, is preparing to expand its virtual reality program.

According to Variety, Cannes XR, the immersive and augmented reality content program, will have new elements this year. Variety reports Cannes XR has partnered with companies Positron and Brogent Technologies to bring in a new virtual reality theater, with dedicated space for competition.

Monday Movie Report: Tribeca Film Fest to open with doc about President Carter

The 19th Tribeca Film Festival is set to run this year from April 15-April 26, has officially announced its first movie.

The world premiere of the documentary “Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President” will serve as the opening picture of the film festival, which is held in the New York City area. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is directed by Mary Wharton and explores the role of popular music and Carter’s passion for it.

Special Movie Report: ‘Parasite’ surges on Oscar night

“Parasite” capped off a great award season run with a golden night Sunday, as it earned the top prize from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Along with Best Picture, “Parasite” earned wins in categories such as Original Screenplay and Directing. Also having a good night was “1917,” which earned wins in Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and Cinematography.

Monday Movie Report: Oscar Nominations Announced

A preview of award season’s grand finale was released this morning with the announcement of nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards.

Earning the most nominations is “Joker,” with 11 total, including Best Picture. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” meanwhile, also earned several nominations, including Best Picture.

Special Movie Report: Golden Globe Winners

It was a great night for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” at Hollywood’s biggest party Sunday night. The film, directed by Quentin Tarantino, earned three wins at the 77th Golden Globes Award Ceremony.

Also having a good night was “1917”, which earned Best Picture Drama and Best Director. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association also awarded Tom Hanks with the Cecil B. DeMille, the organization’s annual lifetime achievement honor.

Monday Movie Report: Finale to ‘Star Wars’ trilogy could make $200 million

Here we go.

We’re headed into the final opening weekend for a “Star Wars” movie for the immediate future, as the next picture in the franchise isn’t scheduled until 2022.

We’ll have more of an idea regarding quality on Wednesday, when the review embargo drops and critics can unleash their opinions. While the reviews are still a few days out, though, box office predictions are starting to roll in.

Monday Movie Report: Golden Globe nominees and more award news

Award season is in full swing with Monday morning bringing the nominations for the annual Golden Globe awards, set to take place in a few weeks.

“Marriage Story” leads the nominations race with six, followed by “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “The Irishman” which each earned five. Along with the Globe nominations, several film critic organizations have also announced their awards for 2019 movies.

The early strides of award season were taken Monday night at the annual Gotham Awards which honors and recognizes independent pictures.

Finishing the night with the most wins was, “Marriage Story,” including victories in Best Feature and Screenplay. “The Farewell,” also had a good showing, taking home Best Actress.
