Monday Movie Report: ‘Uncharted’ cast grows with addition of Antonio Banderas

The cast for ‘Uncharted,” a film adaptation of a video game franchise, is growing.

According to Deadline, Antonio Banderas has been added to the cast of the film, along with Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali. The trio join a cast that already included Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

Special Movie Report: 26th Screen Actors Guild Winners

The Academy Awards acting races had another development Sunday night with the Screen Actors Guild ceremony taking place.

Cementing their spots as front-runners this award season were Brad Pitt who won Best Supporting Male Actor, and Laura Dern, taking Best Supporting Female Actor.

Monday Movie Report: Finale to ‘Star Wars’ trilogy could make $200 million

Here we go.

We’re headed into the final opening weekend for a “Star Wars” movie for the immediate future, as the next picture in the franchise isn’t scheduled until 2022.

We’ll have more of an idea regarding quality on Wednesday, when the review embargo drops and critics can unleash their opinions. While the reviews are still a few days out, though, box office predictions are starting to roll in.

Monday Movie Report: Disney/Marvel schedule release dates

While details and titles for several upcoming Marvel movies remain undisclosed, the studio and parent company Disney have scheduled many of them for release.

According to The Wrap, Marvel Studios and Disney set release dates for five untitled films on Oct. 2, 2022, Feb. 17, 2023, May 5, 2023, July 28, 2023 and Nov. 3, 2023.

Monday Movie Report: Octavia Spencer to receive Producers award

Academy Award winning actress Octavia Spencer is now picking up recognition for her producing work too.

According to The Wrap, Spencer will receive a Visionary Award from the Producers Guild of America at its ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 18. The Wrap reports the award honors producers in television or film who share inspiring, uplifting stories.

Monday Movie Report: Hollywood Film Awards announced

The first award event of the season took place this past weekend, with both “Ford v. Ferrari” and “The Irishman” having a good deal of wins.

While it’s viewed as one of the less prestigious ceremonies of the season, the Hollywood Film Awards still give trophies to usually above average films and provide a spotlight to some of the best films the year has to offer. Last year, films such as “Black Panther” and “Green Book” earned trophies at the HFA and later went on to have plenty of award season success.

Monday Movie Report: Rachel Weisz to portray Elizabeth Taylor

Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz will portray another Oscar winner in the movie “A Special Relationship.”

Variety reports Weisz, who has an Oscar and was nominated for another in last year’s “The Favourite,” is set to star in “A Special Relationship.” In the movie, Weisz will portray actress Elizabeth Taylor, with the film focusing on her transition into a political activist.

Monday Movie Report: ‘The Irishman’ heading to Broadway

Martin Scorsese’s latest movie will be joining theatrical productions on Broadway next month.

According to Deadline, the film starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci will be shown at the Belasco Theatre in New York City. Deadline reports the movie is scheduled to run from Nov. 1-Dec. 1. Like its stage play counterparts, Deadline states the film will be shown with eight screenings per week.

MGM is teaming up with Director Julius Avery to helm a new thriller starring Sylvester Stallone.

According to Deadline, shooting is expected to start early in 2020. The movie, Deadline reports. will center on a boy who’s trying to learn the truth of a superhero who vanished decades ago.
