“Jurassic World” takes place 22 years after the disaster at Jurassic Park on the island Isla Nublar. At this point, the company InGen has successfully reintroduced dinosaurs to a controlled environment and the island has become a fully functioning theme park. The only issue for the staff is a dip in the number of visitors.

To bring in new guests and bump sales, an operation is done to create a new dinosaur attraction by combining multiple bits of DNA. The plan backfires, though, and to help get the situation under control, Claire, the parks’ director played by Bryce Dallas Howard, calls in Owen, a former member of the Navy, played by Chris Pratt, who has trained raptors.

Dracula Untold review

“Dracula Untold” of course tells the tale of the world’s most famous vampire, but this time, instead of going down the Bram Stoker route, this film goes for what feels almost like a super hero origin story.

The movie picks up with the main character, Vlad, the ruler of Transylvania, a few years after fighting in multiple wars where he became known as one of the most fearsome warriors in the region. Retired from his life as a soldier, Vlad rules his kingdom and spends time with his family, and things seem good.

REVIEW: ‘Godzilla’

Yes this movie needed more Godzilla. Scenes with fins sticking out of the water don’t count.

The second American take on “Godzilla” starts with the character Joe Brody (Cranston), a worker at a nuclear power plant in Japan. On what seems like just another average day, the power plant is devastated by an unknown force, and in the destruction Brody’s wife, who also works at the factory, is killed. This sets off Brody into a truth finding search for answers which ends up leading to a strained relationship with his son Ford (Taylor-Johnson).

Fast forward 15 years into the future and Brody’s quest for the truth leads him, along with Ford, to uncover a powerful creature which pose a massive threat to humanity. Things get more interesting as the military gets involved to stop the creature that has awoken and meanwhile, the King of the Monsters starts to make his presence known.

Pacific Rim review

It has monsters. It has robots. And it is awesome.

“Pacific Rim” starts off with an introduction that leads the audience into a setting taking place about 12 years into the future. The intro shows how huge monsters, called Kaiju, begin to appear from portals deep in the Pacific Ocean. The Kaiju consistently attack the coastal cities on Earth and because of this, the planet comes together and builds giant robots, called Jaegers, to fight the menaces.

Once the movie gets to its present time, the audience meets Stacker Pentecost, played by Idris Elba. Pentecost is a military commander who is in charge of the Jaeger program, and he has a growing problem on his hands. The Kaiju are getting more and more dangerous and the world government is getting less trusting of the strength of the Jaegers. To try and strike a significant blow to the Kaiju, Pentecost recruits ex-Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket, played by Charlie Hunnam, for a special mission. Becket, who has a troubled past, has to work with an inexperienced, but talented rookie, Mako Mori, played by Rinko Kikuchi, to pull the whole thing off.
