Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2026 Part 2

Halloween is here and once again it closes another Adventure in B-Movie Horror. What better way to do that than with some shot on video schlock?

For those not in the know, shot on video basically meant shot on video camera. The availability of camcorders gave rise to an SOV boom with independent filmmaking in the 80s and 90s, especially in the horror genre. I usually check out a few each year, knowing they can be quite the zany experience.

For this year, I selected a pair of SOVs, one from 1987, and the other released a decade later toward the end of the 90s.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2026 Part 1

Welcome back one and all to another journey into the world of low-budget spooky entertainment from years gone by.

For those new to the site, every October I go into the world of B-movies. The type of flicks that were going to home video while more mainstream horror movies were entering theaters.

To begin this year, I have a couple movies spanning the 1970s and 1980s, featuring a mix of kills, styles and acting abilities. Let’s get 2026 underway with our first film released in the middle of the 70s.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2022 Part 2

Back with another dive into B-Movies and this time around I did some time hopping.

For Part 2, I have movies from the 80s, the 90s, and even a flick released this year. Spoiler alert, the newest one was also the worst of the bunch.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2021, Part 2

This edition of Adventures in B-Movie Horrors offers some throwbacks. On top of them being decades old, they also all feature things of a time gone by.

One of them takes inspiration from the classic “Frankenstein” story, another is a callback to 50s monster flicks and the third includes horror retellings of old fairy tales.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2021, Part 1

It’s spooky season, Halloween is close, and I’ve been watching more B-Movies! It’s the genre that truly keeps on giving, with plenty of schlock to go around.

For this first installment of Adventures in B-Movies 2021, I watched films with a lotta drillin,’ resulting in a lotta killin.’

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2019 Part 5

Happy Halloween and welcome to the final installment of this year’s write-ups. So for Part 5 we’re leaving behind the 80s and 90s and jumping right into the early 2000s. Both of these movies I’m writing about today are from sub-genres that were popular at the time.

“Live Feed” is a sort of torture horror piece, coming two years after the first “Saw” and a year after “Hostel.” “Awakening,” meanwhile, released four years after “28 Days Later” and two years after the “Dawn of the Dead” remake.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2019 Part 4

The last flicks for this Halloween Horror Fest will be on movies from the 2000s, so this is the final write-up featuring late 80s and early 90s films. Thankfully, one of these is an anthology!

Anthology movies are features with usually three to four separate stories, which may or may not tie together depending on who the filmmakers are. The next movie here is one where the stories are a little more loose.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2019 Part 3

This is the next piece of my look through low budget horrors and there are more here from the good ole 1980s.

Devil Rider (1989/1991)

So there’s apparently a bit of a split on when this one came out. Some sites say 1989 and others state 1991. Regardless, it fits that overall era.

Halloween Adventures in B-Movie Horror 2019 Part 1

Since cutting the cable cord and picking up a Roku, I’ve stumbled upon a great free film option.

One of the streaming channels available to Roku owners is B-Movie TV. Every two hours, the channel plays a low budget B-movie, usually from the 80s or 90s. The channel plays a different genre every day, ranging from martial arts to horror.
