REVIEW: Poor Pacing, Editing Ruin ‘Batman V Superman’s’ Attempt At Greatness

The fists certainly fly in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but audiences have to wait a while for that to happen in this comic book flick.

The film’s first main scene takes place during the Superman vs. Zod battle that wrecked much of Metropolis in “Man of Steel.” This time around, though, the combat is seen through Bruce Wayne’s (Ben Affleck) eyes. Bruce sees the damage caused by the alien battle and immediately views him as a threat. From there, Wayne’s alter ego decides to go after the Man of Steel.

Meanwhile, another billionaire, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eiseberg) has his own problems with Superman, and he also starts scheming against the hero. Even the government sees a problem with Superman as he continues to interfere with human engagements, which puts more pressure on the hero’s alter ego, Clark Kent (Henry Cavill). All of the mistrust in the movie is like a pot ready to boil over.

Top 10 Comic Book Movie Weapons

10. The Batarang – Batman Films
Throughout all of the “Batman” films, a few gadgets have stayed consistent, one is the grappling hook that helps the caped crusader get from A to B, and the other is the Batarang. From the animated films to the Nolan-verse, these bat shaped weapons have been the Dark Knight’s main tool for taking down bad guys. Surprisingly, the Batarang acts less like a boomerang and more like a shuriken throwing star.

Man of Steel review

Director:
Zack Snyder
Cast:
Henry Cavill
Amy Adams
Michael Shannon
Russell Crowe
Kevin Costner
Laurence Fishburne
Rated: PG-13

Yes! Superman does more than throw an island into space! Hooray!

“Man of Steel” is another venture into a superhero universe for Director Zack Snyder who directed 2009’s “Watchmen.” The film is, at its heart, a superhero origin movie. However, Snyder manages to elevate it to a higher level than some of the other origin stories that have been done over the past few years. Instead of learning about the character through a standard a, b and c plot-line, Snyder instead uses multiple flashbacks to not only show the development of who Superman becomes but how he had to deal with his powers too.

The movie reaches the point where Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) discovers who he really is, meeting a conscience hologram of his father Jor-El (Crowe) who explains why the alien is on Earth in the first place and what he should do for the planet and humanity. Jor-El’s enemy, Zod (Shannon) finds his way to Earth too, and seeks to wipe out humanity and restore the Krypton race. To stop Zod, Superman has to work together with Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane (Adams) who is one of the first to discover his origins.

Time to use Bat-Computer to write Bat-Review for Bat-Movie!

“The Dark Knight Rises” is the third and final film in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy and takes place eight years after the end of “The Dark Knight.” We pick up with Gotham City now living in a state of relative peace. Because of Batman (Bale) and Commissioner Gordon’s (Oldman) cover-up of the Harvey Dent situation, the city was able to put away most criminals and clean up the streets.

Since then, Bruce Wayne has hung up the cowl and stays reclusive in his mansion. However his services once again become required when a new threat comes to Gotham in the form of Bane (Hardy), a terrorist with a lot of strengths and some old ties with Batman’s past.
